  • UAE Announces 30-Day Grace Period and Fine Exemptions for Affected Residents

Eligible individuals have until July 9, 2026, to regularise their status or leave the country without overstay penalties.

The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has announced a 30-day grace period for individuals who were previously exempted from overstay fines due to exceptional travel disruptions across the region.

The grace period, which runs from June 10 to July 9, 2026, allows eligible residents, visitors, and travellers to either regularise their residency status or depart the UAE through the applicable legal procedures.

According to the authority, the decision follows the restoration of regional stability and the resolution of circumstances that had prevented some individuals from leaving the country on time. The initiative aims to support compliance with UAE regulations while providing affected individuals with a fair opportunity to address their immigration status.

Officials confirmed that beneficiaries are not required to submit additional requests to qualify for the grace period. Individuals wishing to remain in the UAE may complete the necessary residency or employment procedures, while those intending to leave can do so under existing departure regulations.

The announcement reflects the UAE's continued commitment to balancing legal compliance with humanitarian considerations during and after periods of regional disruption.
